How to Reset 7940-7960 IP voip Phones to Factory Default

Although you cannot change the ip phone's password, you can manually reset the voip phone back to factory default.During this step, you can also erase it's network configuration .
To set the Cisco IP phone to factory default completes the following steps:
 should be completed:

For 7940, 7941, 7960, 7961 voip  phones:
 1 . Pressing the " # " key while restarting the phone (unplug power cable and plug in again and hold the # key.)
The phone will soon display “Reset key sequence detected”
2. Release # when lights start flashing
3.After several lights flash press the following keys in order:
    1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 * 0 #

4.The phone will then ask you if you want to save the network configurations:
Press 1 to keep network configuration or 2 to lose the network configuration.
If you press another key or do not respond to this prompt within 60 seconds, the phone continues with its normal startup process and does not reset. 
5. You'll now see 'Factory reset initiated' displayed on the LCD screen then the phone will re-boot
For 7906G and 7911G voip phones:
1. Power up the phone (unplug power cable and plug in again and hold the # key.
2. Release # when MWI starts flashing.
3. Press 3 4 9 1 6 7 2 8 5 0 * #.


If this does not work for you then try the following:

1. Choose the main Date/Time window.

2. Press **# in order to unlock the Network Configuration on the phone.

3. Press Settings.

4. The Network Configuration lock symbol must be unlocked. If not, exit to the main window and press ** # again.

5. Press 3 on the keypad  for Network Configuration.

6. Press 33 on the keypad  to Erase Configuration.
7. Press the Yes softkey.

8. Press the Save softkey.
